12 migrants repatriated to Cuba

The 'Isaac Mayo' repatriated 12 refugees to Cuba on Jan 29, 2025, following two migration attempts. A Customs and Border Protection Air and Marine Operations crew notified Coast Guard Sector Key West watchstanders of a raft on Jan. 19, approximately 21 nautical miles south of Long Key. Sector Key West command center watchstanders diverted the crew of Coast Guard Cutter 'Charles David Jr'. to interdict. A good Samaritan notified Coast Guard Sector New Orleans that they embarked seven migrants from a disabled vessel on Jan 23, about 50 nautical miles southwest of Cuba in the Yucatan Passage. Coast Guard District Eight watchstanders notified Coast Guard District Seven command center watchstanders who diverted the Coast Guard Cutter 'Reliance' to respond. No injuries were reported. Once aboard the Coast Guard cutters, the boat people were processed to determine their identity and nationality, and are provided food, water, shelter, and basic medical attention before repatriation to their country of origin or return to the country from which they departed. Coast Guard, CBP, Dominican Republic Navy interdict 108 migrants near Puerto Rico

 U.S Coast Guard, U.S. Customs and Border Protection and Dominican Republic Navy surface and air units interdicted three vessels carrying 108 migrants during three separate voyages near Puerto Rico. The 'Isaac Mayo' completed the repatriation of 64 of the migrants from two of the interdictions to authorities from the Dominican Republic Navy in San Pedro de Macoris, Dominican Republic, on Dec 17. The most recent interdiction occurred the same morning, when two CBP, Caribbean Air and Marine Branch marine units stopped a 20-foot makeshift vessel, 11 nautical miles west of Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico. Coast Guard watchstanders at Sector San Juan diverted the 'Isaac Mayo' to the position. Once on scene, the CG cutter embarked 11 migrants, nine men and a woman who claimed to be nationals of the Dominican Republic, as well as one other woman who claimed Haitian nationality.  The second interdiction had occurred on Dec 16, after the aircrew of a CBP, Caribbean Air and Marine Branch multi-role enforcement aircraft sighted a 30-foot makeshift vessel south of Mona Island, Puerto Rico. Coast Guard watchstanders at Sector San Juan diverted the 'Isaac Mayo' to the position. Once on scene, the crew of cutter Isaac Mayo embarked 53 migrants, 48 men and five women, who claiming to be Dominican Republic nationals. The third interdiction also occurred on Dec 16, after the aircrew of a CBP, Caribbean Air and Marine Branch, multi-role enforcement aircraft sighted a 30-foot makeshift vessel, approximately 30 nautical miles northeast of Samana, Dominican Republic. Coast Guard watchstanders at Sector San Juan coordinated with authorities from the Dominican Republic Navy, while a Coast Guard HC-144 Ocean Sentry aircraft aircrew relieved the CBP aircraft and vectored-in a responding Dominican Republic Navy vessel to the position of the suspect vessel, and it embarked 44 migrants, 39 men and five women who claimed to be Dominican Republic nationals. 41 migrants repatriated to Cuba

The ' Isaac Mayo' repatriated 41 migrants to Cuba on Aug 23, following multiple interdictions of unlawful maritime migration attempts in support of Operation Vigilant Sentry. A Customs and Border Protection Air and Marine Operations aircrew notified Coast Guard Sector Key West watchstanders of a migrant vessel on Aug. 16., approximately 39 miles south of Key West. A good Samaritan reported a vessel to Coast Guard Sector Miami watchstanders on Aug 18 approximately 8 miles southeast of Port Everglades. A Customs and Border Protection Air and Marine Operations aircrew alerted Coast Guard Sector Key West watchstanders on Aug 19 of a migrant vessel approximately 58 miles south of Marathon. Once aboard the Coast Guard cutter, migrants were processed to determine their identity and are provided food, water, shelter, and basic medical attention before repatriation to their country of origin or return to the country from which they departed.
