CELINA is currently being recycled by Esbjerg scrapper Smedegaarden

Mon Jun 04 07:06:21 CEST 2012 arnekiel

CELINA had s misfortune in a Norwegian fjord earlier this year while on a voyage to Ålesund with a load of container. CELINA had a rather tough meeting with the rocky ground of Norway and was afterwards declared a total loss. Some weeks ago CELINA arrived in tow at Esbjerg by the Danish/Norwegian tug BAMSE TUG. Smedegaarden is using the vessels own gear as crane capacity during the recycling. The engine room is intact and fully usuable as power supply for the cranes. CELINA was built in Ruichang, China, in 2002 and started her career as CMA CGM ALGER.

Final voyage

Sun Apr 29 12:06:11 CEST 2012 Timsen

The "Celina" was towed from Raudeberg to Denmark to be broken up at Smedegaarden in Esbjerg where it had arrived on May 1. The damage to the main engine had led to the decision to scrap the ship. Remaining fuel pumped out

Wed Apr 04 09:59:04 CEST 2012 Timsen

The accessible remaining oil has been pumped out of the "Celina" by Apr 3 by salvors of Buksér og Berging. There may only be marginal remainder left in the tanks. The ship had 265 tons heavy fuel on board when running aground. The ship is drydocked at Båtbygg in Raudeberg and was to be towed to the quay of Johansen Slip & Mek. in the morning of Apr 4. There are various options regarding the repair of the hull damage suffered in the accident in Djupsundet off Gangsøy on Mar 9. The container ship "Apolo" was to take over the service of the "Celina" in the meantime. Norwegian report with photo: http://www.fjt.no/nyheter/article445998.ece
