Medevac off Garrucha
On Jan 15, 2025, the crew of the SAR boat 'Guardamar Concepción Arenal' (IMO: 9541655) medevaced a passenger with health problems from the 'Celebrity Infinity', en route from Barcelona to Arrecife, off Garrucha. The CCS Almeria of Salvamento Marítimo coordinated the operation. The affected person and his companion were transferred to the port of Garrucha, where the patient was further attended by medical services. Crew member injured in accident on board
On July 18, 2023, while the 'Celebrity Infinity' was docked at Port Kerkyra, Corfu Island, a 48-year-old male refrigerant assistant, who was performing maintenance on equipment, accidentally hurt a right-hand finger. Upon receiving the information, the Corfu Port Authority activated standard safety protocols, and the injured man was swiftly taken to a local private clinic for the medical treatment. At the time of the incident, 'Celebrity Infinity' was in the midst of a 7-night "Greece & Croatia" voyage. After the necessary medical assistance, the ship continued with the planned itinerary. The Greek authorities have started a preliminary investigation into the incident, led by the Corfu Port Authority.
1450 Goan seafarrers arrived at Mumbai
The 'Celebrity Infinity' with around 1450 stranded Goan seafarers arrived at the MPT cruise terminal in Mumbai on June 18. Swab samples of the seafarerswere taken and tested for COVID and based on the outcome of the results further action will be initiated as per the SOP. The seafarers who arrived today were stranded in Mumbai for some days. Prior to the arrival at Mumbai the ship had visited Greece and Cyprus. The Directorate of Health team and medical experts visited the cruise ship.I was hoped to complete the collection of swab samples in the evening or on June 19. Due to rough weather conditions and heavy rainfall not much could be done in the first half of the day, besides the ship was delayed by almost two hours. After the collection of samples is done the seafarers will go back on the ship and will stay there until the swab test results are declared. If the test results are COVID positive then action will be initiated as per the SOP and if results are negative then they will be sent home.
