Smouldering fire quickly doused
Smoldering wires in a cabinet caused a small fire on the "Atlantic Raven" on June 20, 2013. The vessel at the time was transporting 13 workers from the Terra Nova Floating Production Storage and Offloading Vessel to St. John’s. The ship was 100 kilometres from the capital city when the fire occurred. One crew member quickly extinguished the fire. The vessel remained fully functional and resumed its journey to St. John’s. The Italian tug boat Asso Ventidue or Asso 22 that had been held by Libyan military fled to international waters late on Friday and made radio contact with a warship taking part in NATO patrols off Libya, a report said. ANSA news agency reported citing informed sources that the Italian warship was now on course to intercept the vessel early on Saturday, AFP reported. The report did not explain exactly how the vessel was able to escape. The ship, the Asso 22, had 11 crew members including eight Italian nationals on board when it was seized in Tripoli last month on the same day that air strikes by an international coalition including Italy began. There have been intensive diplomatic efforts to get the ship released, with Italy earlier saying the crew were being held as "hostages". The ship had arrived in the port of Tripoli to ferry workers from the Libyan state oil company NOC when armed men climbed on board.
