Medevac off Cape Carbonara
A 65-year-old man who suffered a heart attack on board the 'Carthage' was rescued by the Cagliari Coast Guard during the night of Sep 10, 2024, while the ship wasd sailing on the Tunis-Genoa route. He felt ill when the ship was about 40 miles south of Cape Carbonara. The captain raised the alarm, and the Nemo Aw139 helicopter of the Decimomannu Coast Guard was sent to the scene. Hoisting the man was not easy due to the strong Mistral wind of about 45 knots, the rough sea of force 5-6 and the night. After he was winched on board the helicopter, he was taken to the Brotzu Hospital in Cagliari.
Medevac off Marseille
A man was medevaced by helicopter from the 'Carthage' less than 200 km from Marseille early on March 23, 2022. The passenger, of Tunisian origin, had suffered a broken leg. He was airlifted at 8:30 a.m. and brought to the Saint-Anne Army Training Hospital in Toulon, in the Var. The ferry was sailing between Tunisia and Marseille. After medical advice from the maritime medical consultation center of the Toulouse University Hospital and the SAMU, the decision was made to evacuate the injured man. A French Navy helicopter of the naval air base of Hyères was deployed with a medical team from the SAMU du Var. The rescue operation took place .
Sailing cancelled because of dispute between captain and agents
The Compagnie Tunisienne de Navigation (CTN) announced the cancellation of the crossing La Goulette-Genoa of the "Carthage" on June 25, 2017, The cause was a dispute between the master and agents of the ship.
