Medevac off Galveston
The US Coast Guard medevaced a 71-year-old man from the 'Carnival Jubilee' off Galveston, Texas, on Oct 26. Coast Guard Sector Houston-Galveston watchstanders received a medevac request at 5:19 p.m. from the ship, stating the passenger presented symptoms of a heart attack aboard the vessel. Watchstanders consulted with the duty flight surgeon, who recommended a medevac. Watchstanders directed the launch of a Coast Guard Station Galveston 45-foot boat and coordinated with the Galveston Fire Department to assist with the medevac. The response vessel crew arrived on scene, embarked the passenger and transported him to Station Galveston and into the care of emergency medical services personnel.
Cruise ship rescued two castaways
Two men were rescued by the 'Carnival Jubilee' from a kayak, after their boat had sunk in the Gulf of Mexico on Feb 26, 2024. Crew members aboard the cruise ship spotted them and quickly rescued them off the coast of Isla Mujeres. The men paddled toward the ship's side before crew members helped pull them aboard. The men were then evaluated by the ship's medical staff and given first aid and water. while the ship's team and Carnival's Fleet Operation Center staff in Miami arranged a transfer with Mexican Navy officials. That was completed shortly after the rescue. The cruise ship, which departed from Galveston, Texas, on Feb 24, then continued its regular travel itinerary, heading to Mahogany Bay, Roatan in Honduras. Two men found floating in a kayak in the Gulf of Mexico on Jan 29, 2024, were rescued by the crew of the 'Carnival Jubilee', which passed the island of Isla Mujeres, Mexico, off the coast of Quintana Roo, when the ship's team members spotted the kayak. The men were pulled onto the ship, evaluated by medical staff, and given first aid and food. The men told them they got into the kayak after their boat sank. They were transferred to a Mexican Navy vessel shortly after the rescue. The cruise ship had departed Galveston on Jan 27 on a 7-day cruise of the Western Caribbean and after the rescue continued on its voyage to Mahogany Bay on Roatan Island, Honduras. The ship returned to Galveston in the morning of Feb 3.
