CARNIVAL INSPIRATION 9047489
The "Carnival Inspiration" on Dec 15 was back out to sea, after hundreds of passengers had to wait a day for their ship to come in. Passengers on Dec 14 returned to the Port of Tampa to try again. On Dec 13 strong winds and waves shut down the port to incoming ships. The "Carnival Inspiration" was left stuck at sea with more than 2,000 people on board. It arrived 13 hours later. The delay cut the cruise one day short. Passengers are not heading to Grand Cayman anymore. Carnival Cruises are offering affected passengers a pro-rated refund and a discount towards a future cruise.
CARNIVAL INSPIRATION 9047489
The "Carnival Inspiration" finally returned to Tampa on Dec 14, 2010, at 2 a.m. night and berthed at cruise terminal 2. Strong winds had forced the ship to anchor in the Gulf of Mexico off Anna Maria Island for several hours before it made its way to port. The ship sat 15 miles west of the Sunshine Skyway Bridge for most of the day. Carnival decided it was not safe enough for the vessel to attempt to go under the Skyway Bridge because of the rough seas brought on by high winds. "The "Carnival Inspiration" was due in at 8 a.m. on Dec 13, in time to take the next group of eager passengers to the Grand Caymen Islands and Cozumel, Mexico. Those passengers were supposed to depart at 4 p.m. but they still have not gone anywhere. The delayed passengers are supposed to leave on Dec 14. The trip will be cut short to four days. The ship will stop in Cozumel, but not Grand Caymen as originally scheduled. Guest who travel on the modified itinerary will receive a pro-rated refund for the one day lost.
