Three Indonesian sailors, who have been stuck on the "Lady Anna" off the coast of Bahrain since last March, returned home on Jan 10, 2010. Their four shipmates remain stranded onboard the vessel despite earlier promises by Al Sabah Marine Company to get all seven home before the start of this year. The Indonesian Embassy is now in the process of securing their tickets, but they will not be able to leave until a replacement crew has arrived from the Philippines. The sailors have been stuck onboard the vessel after Bahraini authorities denied them permission to enter the country. They have been surviving off handouts of food and water from local charities, having been paid just once since March. In December, the crew accepted an offer of five months pay and plane tickets home. The "Lady Anna" is under arrest in Bahraini waters in relation to a separate legal case brought by the Arab Ship Building and Repair Yard.

7 Indonesian marine workers are marooned aboard the "Lady Anna" off Bahrain by Sep 20, despite hopes that they would be free to return home earlier this month. They have been trapped aboard the ship, anchored off the coast of the Amwaj Islands, since February 2010, with only the donations of Bahraini charities to survive on. They came to conduct work on behalf of Kuwait-based Al Sabah Marine Company, but say the relevant documentation needed to carry out the project had expired before their arrival. They have not been able to work, return to Kuwait or officially enter Bahrain since then. The company was not in a position to pay the outstanding salary and had in fact been declared bankrupt. Al Sabah is also facing legal action by Arab Shipbuilding and Repair Yard Company (Asry) over unpaid bills dating back to 2007.
