The "Cala Portese" was in collision with a 498 GT coastal ship off Kobe on July 31, 2019, at 12.45 p.m. No damages were reported. The "Cala Portese" was enroute from Kobe to Davao with an ETA as of Aug 5.

Cala Portese saved shipwrecked fishermen

Thu Dec 06 12:55:47 CET 2012 Timsen

Three Filipino fishermen were rescued by the passing "Cala Portese" on Dec 5, 2012, two days after their fishing boat capsized about 70 nautical miles east of Bitaogan, Surigao del Sur. They were all residents of General Santos City and among the crew of the fishing vessel "RGL Mark Anthony-35", which capsized off Surigao del Sur on Dec 3. Theys were seen floating in the sea by the crew of the "Cala Portese", which immediately picked them up. Upon rescue, they were given medical attention for hypothermia, minor cuts and bruises on board the ship. All three fishermen were said to be in good physical condition. The Philippine Coastguard made arrangements with the cargo ship regarding its plan to turn over the rescued fishermen to local authorities. The agency was still investigating if the "RGL Mark Anthony-35" capsized and sank due to rough seas caused by Typhoon “Pablo,” and to find out what happened to its other crew members.
