Trawler lost man over board
On Feb 18, 2021, at 03.20 a.m. the 'LK 985-Copious' from Lerwick released a mayday call and requested immediate assistance after a crew member was lost over board 30 nautical miles southeast of Sumburgh Head in the Shetland Islands. The alarm immediately involved the surrounding ships, an SAR helicopter from Lerwick and am RNLI lifeboat. The helicopter located the man short time later. He was hoisted but could not be resuscitated. The body was flown to the Gilbert Bain Hospital in Lerwick. The police in Scotland was also informed about the accident, and the Marine Accident Investigation branch will later come up with a report.
