Skipper medevaced, trawler towed to port
The Eyemouth RNLI lifeboat was launched on Feb 25, 2019, at 8:30 a.m. after it was reported to the Coastguard that a fisherman aboar the "Bright Ray - LH 163" was feeling unwell. The trawler which had also suffered engine failure. Arriving quickly on scene, the volunteer crew boarded the trawler and assessed the fisherman, electing to transfer them to the lifeboat and return immediately to Eyemouth, where they were handed over to the care of the Scottish Ambulance Service. The lifeboat crew then relaunched to tow the vessel back to port. A line was passed and the 52 tons-vessel was taken under tow and was safely mooored in port at 3:20 p.m.
Trawler suffered steering trouble off Eyemouth
The Eyemouth RNLI lifeboat and its volunteer crew were launched on Jan 30, 2017, at 5:15 p.m. in order to assist the "Bright Ray - LH 163" which was experiencing steering problems. The lifeboat was quickly on scene, four miles to the north of Eyemouth and initially stood by and escorted the trawler back to harbour, the ship being able to use her emergency steering. On the final approaches to the harbour, the skipper requested that the lifeboat take her under tow as a safety precaution should the steering problem arise again. Once under tow, the "Bright Ray" was placed safely alongside, around 50 minutes after the initial launch. Disabled trawler towed to Eyemouth
On Dec 17, 2015, at 3 a.m. the Eyemouth ALB and its volunteer crew were launched after the trawler "Crystal Stream" requested assistance with the towing of another fishing vessel, the "Bright Ray - LH 163". The lifeboat was quickly alongside both vessels which were four miles north of Eyemouth and took up position as a stern tow in order to act as a brake to the "Bright Ray", which was being towed by fellow trawler "Crystal Stream". Working in conjunction with the "Crystal Stream", the lifeboat boat helped line the "Bright Ray" up for a safe entry into Eyemouth harbour. All three vessels were safely alongside by 04:30 a.m., after which the Eyemouth lifeboat was stood down, refueled and was made ready for service again.
