Greenpeace protest against tanker
In the afternoon of April 15, 2022, Greenpeace held a peaceful protest in the waters off Syracuse to obstruct the arrival of the 'SCF Baltica' with a cargo of 110.000 tons crude oil. With the support of the ship 'Rainbow Warrior', activists and activists of the environmental association tagged big letters on the side of the tanker with the message 'Peace not oil'. This nonviolent demonstration in the Ionian Sea joins the many others conducted in recent weeks by Greenpeace in the seas all over Europe. Greenpeace calls for a true ecological transition that puts an end to dependence on fossil fuels. During the protest, some activists displayed their messages directly in the water, while a large symbol of peace appeared among the masts of the 'Rainbow Warrior'. "Energy dependence on oil, fossil gas and coal fuels conflicts and wars all over the world, as well as being the main cause of climate change and the environmental devastation of our planet," said Federico Spadini, climate campaign of Greenpeace Italy.
