Engine failure during assistance
On June 4, 2021, at 3.20 p.m. the 'Bocas del Toro' suffered an engine failure while assisting the LPG tanker 'Gaschem Narwhal' in the Miraflores locks of the Panama Canal in position 009 00 24N, 079 35 48W, about 3,7 miles from Balboa. The ship was serving as bow tug. The Canal Authority launched an investigation into the incident which did not cause delays in the canal operations.
