BISCAYA AV VINDALSO

Mon Jul 05 11:06:34 CEST 2010 Timsen

The “Biscaya Av Vindalso” issued a mayday call in the early hours on July 5, 2010, after it began taking in water in heavy seas with waves between four and six meters high 12 miles off the coast of Fraserburgh. It had on board 16 people. The Fraserburgh lifeboat and an RAF helicopter were scrambled. The rig support vessel “Maersk Advancer” also assisted. The yacht was escorted into Fraserburgh harbour at about 0500 a.m. Before, the RAF rescue helicopter had lowered pumps to the yacht which kept the level of the incoming water down.
