Tanker finally sold

Mon Jun 06 17:30:28 CEST 2022 Timsen

On June 1, Singapore's shipowner First Ship Lease Trust (FSL) officially announced the sale of the company's last Aframax crude oil tanker, the 'FSL London', withdrawing from the crude oil transportation market. Its wholly-owned subsidiary "FSL-23" has signed a ship sale and purchase agreement with an unrelated third-party company. DWT), which has paid a 20% deposit. The "FSL London" has been detained by Indian authorities since November 2021 due to an investigation by Candela Customs on the tonne of cargo specifications. The FSL announcement revealed that the ship had been sold by FSL to an unaffiliated third-party company in September 2021, but the transaction was ultimately cancelled due to delays in delivery due to the investigation. The ship has now left Indian waters and was underway to Singapore with an ETA as of June 15.

FSL Trust Management commenced legal proceedings against charterer

Tue Mar 22 12:53:47 CET 2022 Timsen

Singapore’s FSL Trust Management has commenced legal proceedings against the charterer Golden Stena Baycrest Tankers of the 'FSL London', currently held up in India. The ship was agreed for sale last year to the Singapore-listed Indonesian owner Samudera Shipping. However, the deal fell through due to delivery schedule delays caused by a customs probe into cargo specifications. FSL said that the investigations were still ongoing and the vessel is still held by the local customs authorities in Kandla, pending the outcome of the investigations. The company has moved to claim damages for the delays caused by the carriage of the particular cargo loaded by the charterer and destined for India, the attendant investigations of the cargo, and the vessel being held. There were no proceedings against the vessel or FSL.

Tanker boarded by perpetrators

Wed Jan 29 18:32:34 CET 2020 Timsen

While the 'FSL London' was moored at the Belawan anchorage in position 003 56 29.4N, 98 45 14.4 E, the deck watchmen on routine rounds on board noticed the forward store had been broken into and ship?s properties were missing on Jan 26, 2020, at 3.25 a.m. On searching the area, footprints were noticed on the forecastle and therefore it was believed that the thieves had gained access to the vessel via the anchor chain.
