Vale has yet to sell huge iron ore cargo offoaded by Berge Everest in Dalian

Wed Jan 11 10:02:33 CET 2012 arnekiel

Brazilian miner Vale has not yet sold a huge iron ore cargo delivered to China via the maiden voyage of its giant dry bulk vessel to its top market two weeks ago, opting to store the material near a port, traders said on Wednesday, Reuters reported. The 388,000-deadweight-tonne vessel, Berge Everest, which carried 350,000 tonnes of iron ore, docked and unloaded the ore at China's Dalian port in late December, ending months of delays in getting the world's biggest dry bulk ships into China. Berge Everest Sails for Singapore After Calling at China's Dalian

Tue Jan 03 09:09:09 CET 2012 arnekiel

Berge Everest, one of the world’s largest iron ore ships, signaled it is sailing to Singapore after calling Dalian in China, according to a signal from the vessel today. The ship is operated for Vale SA, the iron ore producer spending at least $8.1 billion on such vessels to cut its long- term freight costs. The carrier’s draft is 14.4 meters compared with 21.3 when it arrived at the Chinese port, indicating it unloaded.

Vale’s Giant Berge Everest Reaches China Port of Dalian for First Time

Wed Dec 28 10:03:50 CET 2011 arnekiel

One of the world’s largest commodity ships operated for Vale SA reached a Chinese port for the first time, after the nation’s refusal to allow such vessels delayed by more than six months the Brazilian miner’s plan to control shipments with giant carriers, Bloomberg reports. The Berge Everest, one of the four vessels BW Group will use to haul iron ore for Vale, has reached the Dalian port fully loaded from Brazil, T.S. Ang, a technical executive at BW Fleet Management in Singapore, the vessel’s owner, said by phone today. He didn’t elaborate as the company is awaiting further details. http://www.businessweek.com/news/2011-12-28/vale-s-giant-iron-ore-ship-reaches-china-port-for-first-time.html
