The 'Benarkle II' got the wreckage from a missing German aircraft caught in the fishing net about 70 miles east of Shetland on Dec 6, 2024. Inside the wreckage of the Cessna 172, which went down last year, also human remains were found in the cockpit. The wreckage was brought ashore on Dec 8. The light aircraft had disappeared between Shetland and Norway on Sep 20, 2023. According to the Federal Bureau of Aircraft Accident Investigation (BFU), the 62-year-old pilot had chartered the Cessna at the Uetersen/Heist airfield in Schleswig-Holstein and stated that he wanted to visit relatives in Bayreuth. Instead of heading south, however, the plane flew in a northwesterly direction. The plane disappeared from radar around six hours later near the Shetland Islands. The owner reported the plane missing the following day. Whether the mortal remains inside the wreckage belong to the missing man, must be investigated.in an autopsy.
