Beate caused oil spill in Elbe port

Tue Jan 22 18:35:02 CET 2013 Timsen

On Jan 22, 2013, the "Beate", 1228 ts (EU-No.: 05101460; CS: DB9047), ran onto the embankment in Magdeburg when entering basin 2 of the canal port and one of the ten cargo tanks was breached. About one ton diesel fuel leaked out. The fire brigade surrounded the ship with oil booms and an environmental company was tasked to remove the oil from the water. The ship was temporary patched. The crew was being interrogated by the police regarding the accident. German report with photos: http://www.mdr.de/sachsen-anhalt/havarie-hafen-magdeburg100_zc-a2551f81_zs-ae30b3e4.html

Tank ship caused oil spill on Elbe

Sat Apr 28 13:53:43 CEST 2012 Timsen

On Apr 28, 2012, at 7 a.m. the "Dettmer Tank 95" caused an oil spill in the Geesthacht lock. The fire brigades from Geesthacht and Lauenburg were called and the ship surrounded with oil booms. It was moored at the upper lock canal to prevent further spills. An oil spill was observed drifting down the Elbe. Some 10000 square metres were polluted. The ship had on board more than 1200 tons diesel and bio diesel and was destined to Magdeburg. The authorities suspected a tank to be leaking and have caused the spill. The remaining contents were pumped into another tank. Ship traffic had to be halted at the accident site for three hours. BEATE

Wed Mar 17 12:56:25 CET 2010 Timsen

In the evening of Mar 16, 2010, the “Dettmer Tank 95″ ran aground between Artlenburg and the ship lift in Scharnebek on the Elbe. The ship had taken a cargo of 1200 tons diesel fuel in Hamburg bound for Magdeburg. In a side canal the rudder failed and the stern drifted onto the embankment and suffered a leak. The fire rescue was on scene with 150 men and dewatered the ship until it was moved in front of the ship lift by the tug boat "Dettmer Schub 125“ (MMSI-Nr. 211437690) at 3 a.m. On scene were the fire brigades from Scharnebek, Brietlingen, Echem, Erbstorf, Artlenburg, Adendorf and Hohnstorf.
