Grounding near Wisbech

The 'Baltic Express', en route from Riga to Wisbech with eight people, besides the crew two pilots on board, when its bow became lodged on a mud bank on the river Nene in pos. 52 43 21 N, 000 10 00 E, about 3,2 nautical miles north of Wisbech on Feb 24, 2023, at 10.40 p.m. UTC. The vessel was carrying 2172 tonnes of timber as cargo. The tug 'Fenlander' went on standby, before the tug 'Conservator' arrived. The ship was refloated on Feb 25 at 10.30 p.m. with the assistance of both tugs and proceeding under its own power with the tugs in attendance to the port of Wisbech.

Collision in Sutton Bridge

Wed Feb 24 17:31:09 CET 2016 Timsen

Two men were injured when the "Lady Nora", coming from Wisbech, collided with two of Fenland District Council’s craft and pontoons inside the Wisbech docks as it reached Sutton Bridge on Feb 23, 2016, at 7.45 p.m. north of the Cross Keys Bridge. Two pilots of the council’s marine staff were slightly injured. One was taken to hospital, where he was checked and discharged in the night. The other saw his GP for a check-up this morning. Both men have been told to rest for a few days. The pontoons were Fenland District Council’s own moorings. Public moorings remained unaffected. Police attended the scene and the Marine Coastguard Authority (MCA) and the Marine Accident Investigation Branch (MAIB) have been informed. They liaised with the Harbour Authority over the incident and any follow-up investigation. The ship continued on its passage in the night en route to Flushing where she berthed on Feb 14 at 2.45 p.m. Upon Arrival she was inspected by the Netherlands authorities.
