Passenger collapsed and died on board
A passenger aged around 50 died on Dec 7, 2024, at around 1:50 p.m. aboard the 'Bajamar Express', when the ship was preparing to dock in the port of Agaete, about ten minutes from reaching its destination. Other passengers raised the alarm to the crew when they saw that he was collapsing and convulsing. After being asked if there was a medical professional on board, three doctors and nurses approached, who asked for a defibrillator. Nothing could be done to save him. The incident occurred during the docking manoeuvre with the officers being in the middle of it. There was no delay, only the seconds that passed between the cabin crew reporting it to the bridge, and the bridge being told to send a message over the loudspeaker.
