Engineer died due to ship fire

On Nov 2, 2022, at around 11 p.m. a fire broke out aboard the 'Yzov Confidenze' in pos. 41 26 00 N, 36 34 00 E,shortly after the ship left the port of Samsun en route to Novorossiysk. The 43 year Ukrainian ship’s engineer was injured during the fire-fighting operation and fell down into sea. An SAR operation Turkish patrol boats was unsuccessful. The fire was put out around midnight. The ship returned to Samsun and dropped anchor in pos. 41° 19.59' N 036° 22.05' E, where it remained stationary as of Nov 6. An incident investigation file has been opened by both Harbour Master technical side and Public Prosecutor from legal side. Surveyors also attended onboard, in order to investigate the cause of the incident and extent of damages. The departure permission has been cancelled for the time of investigations.
