74 passengers evacuated after propulsion trouble

74 passengers were evacuated from the "Aurora Explorer" after a rope drifting from a fish farm fouled the propeller in the afternoon of Dec 12, 2018, during a whale safari at Skjervøy. The accident happend in calm seas, and the patrolboat "Heimdal" of the Norwegian Coastguard 'was nearby. There was a total of 81 people on board, among them a crew of seven. The Coast Guard ordered the evacuation of the catamaran, and the speedboat "Kvænangen", 144 gt (IMO: 9353929), was called, and the passengers, donned with life vests, they were transferred onto the other ship which transported the tourists to Skjevøy. The operation took about two hours. The tourists returned to Tromsø by bus. At 7 p.m. the crew managed to remove the rope from the propeller from the rope and headed to Tromsø at 20 knots speed. On July 15 the ship had allided with a dock in Barentsburg. 34 people were injured. The cause of the accident was an increase of speed of the engine when the ship was about to dock. 34 persons injured in allision

34 people, among them 33 passengers and one crew member, were injured on Svalbard when the "Aurora Explorer" with 121 passengers and four crew members on board allided with a dock in Barentsburg on July 15, 2018, at 10 a.m. At least one person was seriously injured in the crash. Several of the injured have been sent by ambulance teams to the University Hospital in Tromsø. Besides the ambulances also helicopters and the Coastguard were on scene. Some of the victims were passengers of a cruise ship in Longyearbyen. Four patients were sent from Longyearbyen to Tromsø during the night who were moderate or seriously injured. There was also a number of patients at the hospital in Longyearbyen with minor injuries. The "Aurora Explorer" runs daily trips to Barentsburg. The ferry suffered some damage, and the tours on July 15 and 16 were canceled. The ferry was thought to have suffered a technical snag while approaching the dock. Speed ferry ran aground - one passenger injured

The "Vågsfjord" ran aground on rocks off Værran on June 21, 2014, short past 8 a.mn. with seven passengers and a crew of four on board. Due to the impact some were thrown onto the deck when the speed ferry got stuck with a bang around 10 meters from the quay at Fleinvær in the Gildeskål community in Nordland. A nurse on board assisted one passenger who was injured. He was taken to Bodø with a Seaking helicopter for treatment. The police in Salten was notified about the accident at 08:30 a.m. The captain reported that the situation was under control. Some of the passengers went ashore with the help of ladders, while the rest were transported by shuttle boat to the next port. Only the crew remained on board the ship, waiting for the high tide. The lifeboat "Skomvær III" was on scene and monitoring the situation. With the rising Tide, the Ferry was pulled off and towed to the dock at Sørvær for damage assessment. Torghatten Nord AS inserted the ferry "Salten" as a replacement vessel on the Bodø - Væran route.
