Damaged main engine keeps tall ship in Bremerhaven

Fri Sep 04 18:05:52 CEST 2015 Timsen

The "Atyla" is being stuck in Bremerhaven since Aug 17 due to a severe engine damage. The ship had to be emergency anchored on the Weser that day and was towed back into the fishing port. The repair costs have been estimated to be around 60.000 Euro. Some thousand Euro have been collected since for captain Rodrigo de la Serna who built the ship and had to cancel all charter sailings for the time being. Engine damage halted tall ship

Tue Aug 18 13:09:16 CEST 2015 Timsen

The "Atyla" on its way to join the tall ship parade Sail 2015 in Amsterdam suffered oil pressure trouble and ensuing engine damage and had to drop anchor on the Outer Weser at the Wremer Hole for safety reasons in the night to Aug 17. The buoy layer "Nordergründe" took the ship with a crew of five on board in tow to the fishing port of Bremerhaven on Aug 17. It was hoped the ship would reach Amsterdam on Aug 20 after repairs, but the damage of the engine was so severe that also the planned trip from Amsterdam to London had to be cancelled.
