Water cannon shot killed one, injiured three crew members
An uncontrolled shot from a water cannon hit four crew ,e,bers of the "Astro Tamoto" on Sep 10, 2016. The vessel was undergoing trials in the Guanabara Bay near Governador Island, Rio de Janeiro. One of the crew members, a 23-year old female officer, died, while the three others were hospitalized. The water cannon was pointing onto the deck at the time of the accident and not seawards. The Brazilian Navy launched an investigation, because according to the regulations, water cannon tests are to be run under Navy supervision. The offshore tug remained anchored off Governador Island.
