50 migrants tested positive for COVID 19
Of the 232 migrants rescued by the 'Asso 30' that disembarked on Feb 22 in Porto Empedopcle. about 50 tested positive for COVID-19. Following identification procedures, minors were taken to the Villa Sikania di Siculiana migrant reception center and the adults - including the 50 who tested positive - have been transferred to the Allegra quarantine ship where they will spend the mandatory anti-COVID quarantine period. The Agrigento prosecutor's office is coordinating the transfer.
Asso Trenta rescued 232 migrants
The "Asso Trenta", with 232 migrants rescued on Feb 20, 2021, arrived in Porto Empedocle on Feb 22. The ship was scheduled to arrive at the port on Feb 21, but suffered a delay due to bad weather conditions. The migrants will undergo tests to the Covid-19 virus before being transferred onto the ferry "Allegra" , where they will be submitted to the quarantine period. There was also a body in the cargo hold, but it has not been informed whether it is related to the rescue of migrants.
Rescued migrants reached Pozzallo
On Nov 3 at 11.40 a.m. the 'Asso Trenta' berthed in Pozallo, where the 200 rescued migrants were disembarked. Two more had already been medevaced to Lampedusa before as medical emergencies. The ship sailed again at 3 p.m. and headed to Marsaxlokk, where it berthed on Nov 4 at 7.20 a.m. at the MArsa Oil Tanking Jetty.
