Anchors got entangled
In the morning hours of July 10, 2024, the Syros Port Authority was informed by the master of the "Artemis", that during the handling process of his ship in the port of Syros, it was impossible to remove the anchors due to their entanglement. The ship was preparing for the execution of an approved route to the ports of Serifos-Sifnos-Kimolos-Milos with 57 passengers on board. The ferry safely moored with its own engine in the port of Syros where work was successfully carried out to disengage the anchors, with the assistance of a barge and a crane-carrying vehicle. After the presentation of a class certificate by the classifier monitoring it, the ship set sail to continue its scheduled route.
Ramp damage off Syros
On April 27, 2024, at noon, the Port Authority of Syros was informed by the Master of the 'Artemnis' about a malfunction of the stern ramp during the departure from the port of Parikia, Paros, en route to the port of Syros. The ship sailed safely to the port of Syros, where the 80 passengers disembarked, along with 16 vehicles, three trucks and six two-wheelers. The Port Authority of Syros banned the ferry from sailing until the damage was repaired and a certificate of class maintenance was presented by the monitoring classification society.
Malfunction of anchor system in Syros
The Syros Port Authority was informedin the morning hours of Sep 13 by the Master of the 'Artemis', which was docked in the port of Syros, about a malfunction of the anchor lifting mechanism, and initially prohibited the sailing of the ferry. After the presentation of a class maintenance certificate by the monitoring classification society, the sailing ban was lifted for the scheduled route to the ports of Paros, Serifos, Sifnos, Kimolos and Milos with 59 passengers on board.
