Logs loaded back onto Akiri
The "Akiri" which had run aground at ths Spoolder lock in Zwolle, was expected to continue its voyage to Berlin in the course of the afternoon of Feb 11. Since 8.00 a.m., a part of the cargo of logs was tranferred from the salvage ship back to the "Ariki". The Operation was to continue at least until the afternoon. The "Ariki" had been pushed aground by the strong current of the river IJssel on Feb 8. The "Ariki" carried about 800 tons of logs, for the salvage about 100 tons of cargo had to be unloaded. Barge with logs stuck on IJssel
On Feb 9, 2013, at 11.30 a.m. the "Ariki" ran aground on the IJssel at Zwolle near the Spooler lock. The Polish captain had misjudged the currents caused by the high water level on the river. The ship which was loaden with logs bound for Germany got stuck with a slight list to port. A part of the cargo had to be lightered before the vessel could be pulled off.
