Luxury yacht ran aground

The 'Almaha' with 16 people on board (five passengers and 11 crew members) issued a distress call on July 27, 2021, at dawn, in the sea area of ​​North Evoikos near Lichadonissia. The yacht was destined for Skiathos and sailing opposite Kamena Vourla, when ran aground in shallow water and suffered a leak with ensuing water ingress. The Chamber of Commerce, in collaboration with the Stylida Port Authority, asked vessels in the vicinity to respond. Shortly after 5 a.m. the tourist boat 'Oasis', one of the first to arriva, managed to approach the yacht and pick up the five passengers, while the crew remained on board. Other boats could not reach the shallows. About an hour later, the 'Oasis' and the other boats left for Skiathos. The tug 'Christos XVII' remained on the spot, following an order from the Chamber of Commerce. Anti-pollution equipment has been put on standby to avoid any oil pollution.
