Chief engineer has not been paird for seven years

Mon Nov 21 09:08:55 CET 2022 Timsen

The Syrian chief engineer Abdul Naser Saleh on board the 'Al Maha' has not been paid a salary for the past seven years, the ITF has stated which has now taken up the matter and demands that the owner has to pay the bills. Abdul Naser Saleh has been tricked and enticed by the owners to remain in his post, while other crew members have come and gone. The engineer has sailed with the ship for 10 years, but has not been paid for the past seven years. He also has no contract. As a result of the unpaid salary, the chief engineer has not been able to support his family, nor has he had the opportunity to visit it. Nine other Syrian crew members on the 'Al Maha' have not been paid since July. The 'Al Maha' operates out of Jeddah. The ITF has reported the owner of the ship to the authorities in Saudi Arabia and Tanzania, who stated that they are now investigating the conditions on board.
