Disabled trawler towed to Dunmore East
On Jan 9. 2018, the "Alma Amy" suffered engine trouble and was drifting onto rocks off Dunmore East Harbour with a crew of four on board. At 1.58 p.m. the Dunmore East RNLI lifeboat "Windsor Runner" launched on service to assist the trawler which was was located one mile North East of Dunmore Harbour close to the shoreline minutes after launc of the All-Weather Trent Class lifeboat. In difficult sea conditions and high winds, the RNLI crew managed to get a line to the stricken vessel and established a tow. The vessel was then towed to the safety of Dunmore East Harbour at 2.40 p.m. Irish Coast Guard Helicopter R117 and Dunmore East Coast Guard were also launched.
