Video shows heavily damaged hull
The 'Aleksander Gusev' is still aground with its AIS off since the grounding on Oct 17. A video recently taken shows the ships high and dry on the rocks, with most of the ship's bottom being completely crushed and crumbled, so the ship may be presumed to be a total loss. Grounding in the Korelinskaya Bay
The 'Aleksander Gusev' ran aground in the Korelinskaya Bay in the Barents Sea, in pos. 69 24 51N, 033 23 31E on Oct 17, due to unfavorable weather conditions. The North-Western Transport Prosecutor's Office stated that it is impossible to refloat the vessel, due to unfavorable weather and heavy seas. The vessel was carrying a cargo of 200 tons of fish food. There eight 8 crew members on board. Due to the threat of the vessel capsizing, the evacuation of the crew was required. Rescuers brought the vessel's crew ashore by helicopter.
Repairs completed
The "Selvaagsund" called at Esbjerg on June 5 as first port of call after repairs in Floroe before proceeding further to Moerdijk.
