Disabled bulk carrier under tow to Singapore
The "La Solognais" which had been stranded off the coast of Ceduna has started its journey to Singapore for repairs, after the tug "Teresa Eagle" (IMO: 9658252) had arrived from Cape Town, where it had left on April 26, in the Murat Bay. It was guided out of the channel at Thevenard on May 21, 2019, before starting its two-to-three week journey to a dry dock. It will sail at a speed of around eight knots with its 12 crew members on board. The bulk carrier had been on its way to Port Thevenard to load a cargo in April when it suffered propulsion issues relating to its stern tube. Unsuccessful attempts were made to repair the ship at its anchorage after it arrived at the port on April 8. On April 26 the tug "Terasea Eagle" took the vessel in tow to Singapore for repairs, ETA June 12. She left the port again on July 4 and headed to Port Kembla as next port of call, ETA July 22.
