Crew member killed by truck wheel
A 47 year old, female assistant of the 'AF Claudia' lost her life on the night to April 24, 2025. She was killed by a truck driver who was backing up his vehicle on the ferry's ramp in the port of Patras without noticing her. The truck driver, a 44-year-old Greek man, was hospitalised. The Patras port authorities started investigating the accident. A preliminary information collected by the Greek Coast Guard suggested that she was disembarking on foot when she got caught under the wheels of the truck’s coach. The victim was a low-ranking crew member of Greek nationaity.. The ferry is currently chartered by the Attica Group. A local labour union called for a 24-hour strike at the port over the incident and a protest rally was scheduled to take place in the afternoon of April 25
Ferry suffered generator damage
On oct 28, 2024, at midday, the Port Authorities of Corfu, Igoumenitsa, Preveza, Lefkada, Kefalonia, Katakolo, Kyllini, Messolonghi and Patras were informed about the damage to one of the three generators of the 'AF Claudia' west of Corfu. The ship was operating a scheduled route from the port of Venice to the ports of Igoumenitsa and Patras, with 133 passengers on board. The ship sailed to the port of Patras, where it moored safely. The Central Port Authority of Patras initially prohibited the ship from sailing, while upon presentation of a certificate of class maintenance from the recognized organization that monitors it, it was allowed to continue the planned route. The passengers who were going to disembark at the port of Igoumenitsa were forwarded to their destination by the management company.
Mechanical breakdown in Patras
On the evening of Aug 20, 2024, the Central Port Authority of Patras was informed that the "AF Claudia" had suffered a mechanical breakdown while it was in the port of Patras and about to depart for the execution of a scheduled route bound for the ports of Igoumenitsa and Venice. After a control by a Coastguard official. a fault has been detected in the automatic voltage regulator-distributor system. 144 passengers had boarded the ship. The Port Authority of Patras prohibited the ferry from sailing until a certificate of seaworthiness has been presented by the monitoring classification society, while the passengers were forwarded to their destination by the care of the owner company.
