Tanker auctioned in Cape Town
An auction of the detained 'Advantage Sky' took place from a Cape Town law office on Aug 6, 2020, and attracted unusually high interest, with no less than nine bidders taking part in the virtual online auction. The final price for the tanker was US$25.25 million.
Auction inconclusive
The first auction for the sale of the 'Advantage Sky' remained inconclusive. A re-auction by the local court at Cape Town was scheduled on Aug 6, 2020. The ship remained in Durban.
Arrested tanker to be auctioned
The "Advantage Sky" which has been detained at the outer anchorage of Durban, is to come under the auctioneer’s hammer on April 6, 2020, as Hayfin enforced a claim to recover mortgage payments. Hayfin has won a petition to auction the suezmax tanker controlled by Turkish shipowner Advantage Tankers. The ship was moored off Durban in pos. 29° 37.59' N 031° 12.73' E.
