SITC adds new container services
Shanghai: SITC Container Lines, part of SITC International, is improving its service to Southeast Asia, adding new vessel as part of its upgrade. The company will add a service from Jakarta to Laem Chabang and Haiphong, the first direct service from Jakarta to Haiphong. The new service will connect to China's Qinzhou port, with two direct sailings per week. [16/10/14]
Cosco Pacific eyes Qinzhou port
Cosco Pacific is currently in talks with Qinzhou port in Guangxi province about plans to further develop the port. Wang Xingru, managing director of Cosco Pacific said Qinzhou bonded port area and the Sino-Malaysia Industrial Park which is currently under construction will bring lots of future opportunities to the port and now is a good time to develop the logistics of the port. Qinzhou port serves as a major gateway to ASEAN countries and is also the largest container transit port in the Beibu Gulf region. It completed container volume of 262,000teu in the first half, a year-on-year growth of 20.2%. Cosco Pacific just inked a deal with Rizhao port last week to jointly develop a multi-purpose terminal at the port and it is also looking to make a further investment into Qingdao port. [14/08/13]
First direct container route between Guangxi and Taiwan opened
A new container shipping route between Qinzhou port in Guangxi and Kaohsiung in Taiwan has been opened and is the first direct container shipping route between Guangxi and Taiwan. The route is co-operated by Wagon Group in Taiwan and Qinzhou Guiqin Shipping Group and it will be operated once a week, shortening the shipping time between the two ports from 7 days to 3.5 days. “The route will definitely increase the container throughput of Qinzhou port and it will also facilitate trade activities between Guangxi and Taiwan,” said Zhen Guoliang, general manager of Guiqin Shipping Group.
