APM Terminals to jointly develop greenfield terminal in Bangkok

APM Terminals has signed a memorandum of understanding with Sahathai Terminal PLC (PORT) and Mitr Phol Sugar to develop a 345,000 TEU capacity greenfield container terminal in Bangkok, Thailand. Bangkok River Terminal Limited (BRT) will accommodate Thailand’s rapidly-growing containerized import and export trade. Sahathai Terminal PLC (PORT), Thailand’s leading container terminal and logistics company formed a Joint Venture with Mitr Phol Sugar to develop this Container Terminal in October 2018. With over 35-years’ experience in Thailand with container operations in Lat Krabang and Laem Chabang, APM Terminals’ participation will further strengthen the joint venture. Completion of the transaction is subject to receiving applicable regulatory approvals and licenses.

APL introduces China Bangkok Express service

APL announced the launch of the China Bangkok Express (CBX) service, a new shortsea service that directly links South China and Thailand each week.Characterised by competitive transit times, the CBX service promises the industry’s fastest connection from Nansha to Bangkok in four days. Also designed to transport special cargo, this service offers reefer and breakbulk solutions to facilitate these shipments.Shippers with cargo that are destined beyond Asia may also tap onto APL's global services network at the trans-shipment hubs of Hong Kong and Chiwan in South China for further connectivity.The CBX service will commence sailing on 18 April 2018 from Hong Kong, and call at the ports of Hong Kong, Shekou, Nansha, Bangkok and Laem Chabang. Unithai expands in Ranong

Unithai Shipyard and Engineering, Thailand’s topr shipyard, has expanded its operations to a deepsea port in Thailand’s western Ranong province. Supporting the government’s strategic plan to develop Ranong port as a marine transport, logistics and offshore business hub for the region, Unithai Shipyard has signed a memorandum of understanding with Yongchao Company, which provides a wide range of logistical support for oil and gas operations in the Andaman Sea. “In combining the capabilities of Yongchao and Unithai Shipyard, the operations have become a one-stop-service,” Unithai Shipyard managing director Teerapon Udomkanjananan said. “Once a vessel arrives at the port, all services – including formalities, repairs, crew changes and warehousing – will be completed in just one stop. This will support the expansion of marine and offshore business in this region in the future.
