Westports plans to invest RM800mil for port expansion
Port operator Westports Holdings Bhd is allocating over RM800mil for its port expansion, including the construction of its Container Terminal 8 (CT8) Phase 2 wharf and container yard, this year, said its chief executive officer, Ruben Emir Gnanalingam. “All these additional facilities are expected to be completed and begin operations towards the end of this year,” he told reporters after the company’s AGM in Petaling Jaya on Tuesday. Port Klang nears top ten container ranking
Based on its performance in 2015, Port Klang says it should be ranked in 11th place in the World Container League for 2016, moving up one spot from 2015. The Port Klang Authority said the port’s positive growth can be attributed to several factors, mainly efficient and productive terminal operators, strong support from the logistics community and the use of advanced and greener cargo handling equipment. “The strong cooperation and coordination between the Port Authority and the terminal operators in resolving operational issues has raised the confidence level of port users,” Port Klang Authority said in a press release. The port registered a positive growth of 10.8% in container handling during 2016 when compared with 2015, handling a total of 13,169,577 teu. New Port Klang Bunker Facility Welcomed by Malaysian Transport Minister
Malaysia's Transport Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai Tuesday at its opening ceremony welcomed the launch of the new Westport Bunkering Services (WEBS) facility by bunker supplier WEBS Oil Hub Sdn Bhd (WEBS Oil) at Port Klang, Malaysian media reports.
