The Port of Oslo wants to reduce emissions 85% by 2030
Port of Oslo in Norway has signed a cooperation agreement with an environmental non-profit organisation to help it become emission-free. The Port of Oslo, which first talked about its zero-emission ambition in June, will partner with the Oslo-headquartered Bellona Foundation to achieve its zero-emission goal. Emissions in the port are anticipated to be reduced by 85% by 2030 and gradually reduce until they are eliminated. “The Port of Oslo is in full swing with the green transition, and has begun the phasing in of emissions-free solutions,” said Port of Oslo chairman, Roger Schjerva. “It is enthusiastic about working alongside the Bellona Foundation and exchanging ideas and solutions with Bellona’s network of environmental experts and organizations. Maritime transport and urban ports are crucial in reducing the world’s greenhouse gas emissions from the transport sector.”

Samskip further enhances the Norway Oslofjord service
The Norway Oslofjord service will be optimized further as of week 7. Samskip has announced an improved sailing schedule covering seven ports in the Oslofjord. With the new schedule, Samskip will offer a faster door-door transit time from Rotterdam to Moss, Kristiansand and Larvik which will be served on a weekly basis as well as the ports of Fredrikstad and Brevik. In addition, Samskip expands its operation in the Oslofjord by adding the port of Drammen to the network. This creates the possibility to deliver cargo loaded on Thursday or Friday the next Monday in the Oslo area and is therefore an attractive alternative to road transport. The two weekly departures from Rotterdam (on Tuesday and Saturday) to Oslo will remain unchanged and offers the possibility to ship cargo within five calendar days on a door-door basis. The Tuesday departure enables cargo to be loaded at the beginning of the week and to be delivered on Friday in the Oslo area. The Saturday departure can be used for cargo loading at the end of the week to be delivered the next Tuesday in the Oslo area.
