Cargo ship saved in typhoon

The "Yuan Hai 9" suffered engine and steering failure en route from Shidao to Guangzhou with a cargo of 1.000 tons steel on Aug 8, 2109. The vessel anchored for some time east of Shanghai. The SAR ship "Dong Hai Jiu 101" (IMO: 9654816) was sent to assist in a severe storm caused by the passing typhoon Lekima and , salvors and the "Yuan Hai 15" managed to take the casualty in tow, and in the evening of Aug 9 she was pulled to Shanghai and anchored on the Yangtse River in pos. 31° 22.74' N 121° 37.25' E.

Fire in superstructure under control

The "Yuan Hai 9" suffered a fire in the superstructure in the morning of Oct 17, 2018, in the Qiongzhou Strait, while en route from Guangzhou to Haikou upon Hainan island. Several SAR ships were sent to assist, and the fire was soon put under control by activating the ship's own CO2 system. Seven non-essentail crew were evacuated, eight more remained on board. The ship was to be taken to Haikou.
