In the morning of May 6, 2014, a fire broke out in the engine room of the "Wantij" on the Rhine at Rees. The fire brigades from Rees and Emmerich were on scene at the accident site between Rhine kilometer 829 and 830 where the ship had gone adrift. The Dutch master immediately dropped anchor, and fire boats tackled the fire. The water police encured that no swell endangered the boats. When the anchor started to drag, the container barge "Saluté" went alongside and held the "Wantij" in Position until the fire was out at 11.15 a.m. The damaged barge was pulled to the port of Dusiburg alongside the "Saluté" then.
