Fire off Ramsey
The Ramsey RNLI all-weather-lifeboat, the "Ann & James Ritchie", launched in the morning of Feb 11, 2019, at 7.20 a.m. to go to the assistance of athe "Venture Again" with an engine room fire following a request by HM Coastguard Belfast, and made good speed towards the vessel reported to be 2.5 miles east of Maughold Head. The crew of two aboard the fishing vessel had managed to isolate and extinguish the fire. Nether crew member was injured in the incident, but the vessel had suffered a complete loss of power. Ramsey lifeboat arrived on scene at around 07:55 a.m. Having first established that no injuries had been sustained, a tow was safely established. Ramsey lifeboat then proceeded towards Douglas Harbour with the stricken vessel in tow Meanwhile, the Douglas RNLI all-weather-lifeboat "Marine Engineer" launched at 07:50 a.m. and headed to meet he Ramsey lifeboat. The lifeboats rendezvoused at 08:30 a.m. and the tow was passed from the Ramsey to the Douglas lifeboat. The Douglas lifeboat then successfully continued the tow to Douglas Harbour whilst Ramsey lifeboat turned around and returned to Ramsey.
