Relevant paperwork for the ship was in order.

Passengers evacuated after ferry grounded off Naigani Island

Mon Apr 02 11:22:40 CEST 2018 Timsen

The "Spirit of Altruism" ran aground on a reef in Lomaiviti in the morning of Apr 2, 2018. The ferry had left Natovi at 7.30 a.m. bound for Nabouwalu but developed engine problems. The ship drifted about 200 meters before it got stuck on a reef off Naigani Island at 9 a.m. The passengers on the ship were given life jackets and instructed to prepare to disembark. The "Spirit of Harmony" and "Spirit of Love", both of the Patterson Shipping, approached the "Spirit of Altruism" and took them aboard within two hours. They were transported back to Natovi. The Fiji Martitime Surveillance Rescue Coordination Centre was monitoring the situation and two tugs were en route to troubled ferry. On Apr 4 the ferry was refloated and pulled to the Natovi jetty, where it was safely berthed. An investigation into the incident was ongoing.
