On Feb 14, 2011, a locksmith died and 2 were injured in a fire which followed an explosion aboard the Azerbaijan flagged crane ship “Shirvan”, 1392 dwt, in the area of Baku. Senior representatives of the State Caspian Sea Shipping Company arrived at the scene. The “Shirvan” had stopped for repairs at the Azerbaijan State Caspian Sea Shipping Company’s Ship Repairing Plant “Ilham Allahverdiyev”. The fire was extinguished at 11 p.m. by the Ministry Emergency Situations fire protection group. The plant’s locksmith passed away at the hospital despite medical aid, the others – the plant’s general engineer and an electric welder were hospitalized. The reasons of the incident are investigated by the specialists of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, State Maritime Administration and the Prosecutor Office.
