Medevac off Cuxhaven
On April 20, 2019, at 8.15 a.m. the "Roald Amundsen" asked for assistance after a 38 year old woman had suffered an epilppcital attack and needed immediate care. The ship was 14 miles NW of Cuxhaven. Shortly afterwards, the lifeboat "Annelies Kreamer" headed towards the brig with an ambulance and two paramedics of the Cuxhaven fire brigade on board. The patient had meanwhile been treated on board after a medical consultation by radio. When the lifeboat came alongside the sailing ship at 9:15 a.m., the condition of the woman had already improved to such an extent that she could board the lifeboat without assistance. The paramedic and paramedic continued to care for the patient in the on-board hospital. In Cuxhaven, the rescuers handed over the woman to the land rescue service.
Fire aboard traditional sailing vessel in Kiel
On Sep 27, 2014, around 2 p.m. a fire broke out aboard the "Roald AMundsen" during welding works at the Lindenau Yard in Kiel-Friedrichsort. The fire rescue Kiel which had just attended a fire on the traditional sailing vessel "Angelina Catherina" switched from Holtenau to nearby Friedrichsort and was able to extinguish the fire within short time. No injuries reported.
Medevac off Schleimünde
The lifeboat "Nis Rander" of the DGzRS station Maasholm medevaced an injured woman the "Roald Amundsen" on Sep 1, 2014, five miles east of Schleimünde. The 60 year old woman had fractured a shoulder in an accident on board and needed immediate medical treatment. She received first aid on board and was prepared for transport. Due to the good preparedness of the crew she could be delivbered onto the lifeboat within short time. The patient was then taken to the port of Maasholm for further transport into a hospital.
