Investigation still going on

Tanjung Perak Port authorities were still waiting for the lab results from the forensic team, regarding the fire that occurred on board the "Persada X" on June 29. Investigators collected samples from different rooms that had burned. It was still unknown what caused the fire, but it was said to have affected the crew's accommodation, deck and bridge of the vessel.

Fire gutted superstructure

The "Persada X" caught fire on June 29, 2019, at 4.30 a.m. at the West Patchouli Pier in Tanjung Perak port, Surabaya, East Java. The superstructure and engine room burned out. The fire was extinguished at 1.30 a.m. by theSeven Surabaya PMK units and four PMK units from PT Pelindo III which attended with four fire trucks and five other vehicles. The fire consumed five decks on the stern of the ship. The ship was waiting for its turn to be repaired at the West Nilam Terminal, Tanjung Perak Surabaya Port by PT Tambangan Raya.
