Two injured in engine room fire
The "Ocean Constructor" suffered a fire in engine room on March 13, 2019, at 9.55 a.m. in the Gulf of Mexico, while laying two pipelines at the Ku-Maloob-Zaap oil field in the Campeche Sound. There were 181 people on board, including construction personnel and 25 crew members. The assistance was coodinated by the SEMAR, and a Black Hawk helicopter was deployed to take workers off the vessel. All non-essential personnel, on the whole 130 people, were transferred to different platforms of the Ku Maloob Zaap complex within four hours. Two of them suffered minor injuries but did not have to be hospitalized. The crew remained on board to fight fire with the help of the offshore vessels "Cosmos", "Bucaner" and "Don Miguel" and the patrol boats "Tenochtitlán" and "Chichen Itzá" of the Navy as well as the "MLB 104" of Textron Marine. The fire was under control at 12.45 p.m. The pipeline laying work started on Jan 16 and was due to end on April 16.
