Man feared to have fallen over board
On Aug 7, 2021, a man was suspected of having fallen over board from the 'Nova Sun' in the Baltic Sea. The Swedish Coast Guard was looking for the missing person by helicopter. Also a lifeboat joined the search. The man in his fifties, was last seen in a drunk state in the night when the ship was at Hoburgen on Gotland on its way to Nynäshamn from Gdansk. His company reported him missing in the morning of Aug 8. The Swedish Maritime Administration was regarding the case as a suspected accident. After the ferry arrived in Nynäshamn, the police was on site and searched through the ship. Passengers leaving the ferry were checked, and the police spoke to the man's acquaintances.
Polferries’ new NOVA STAR finally enters service
Following months of delays and uncertainty, Polferries’ chartered ro-pax NOVA STAR entered service on the Gdansk-Nynäshamn route on 14 September. Original plans were for the ferry to have entered service at the end of March, with the in-service date being changed nine times since then.
Nova Star sold to Poland
The NOVA STAR – a 2014 Singapore-built ro-pax ferry which has been on charter to Moroccan operator Inter Shipping since February 2016 – has been sold to Polferries to take up the route between Gdansk and Nynäshamn in late March.
