Crew member died during work in tank
The 41-year-old Andris Police from Latvia was killed in a work accident on board the "Nordstar" off Iceland on June 10. The relatives have been informed. On June 14 both the police and the accident commission started investigations aboard the "Nordstar". The man died during work in a tank. Four crew members have left after the trawler arrived in Ålesund, some of them due to the death on board. On June 16 the "Nordstar" left Ålesund again towards the Barents Sea.
Deadly accident off Iceland
A crew member of the "Nordstar" died in a tragic accident while the ship was fishing off Iceland in the evening of June 10, 2018. The trawler was now on the way to Ålesund, and the incident will be investigated by the local police and accident commission. The man from Giske in his 40s has been employed by the shipping company for a long time. The "Nordstar" had a crew of 25 and was fishing for redfish when the accident occurred. The ship was expected in Ålesund in the night of June 13.
Crew extinguished fire in cargo hold
Two people had to be treated for smoke inhalation after fire occurred on board the "Nordstar" on July 25, 2014, while the ship was docked at Vigra. The fire started in the hold of the ship. Two workers at the site were brought to the emergency department of the hospital. The fire was reported at 9:45 a.m., and there was considerable smoke. The fire was extinguished by the crew already when the the fire department arrived. Smoke divers of the fire brigade went through the ship to rule out that there were more people on board. A total of 18 people had been on board when the fire started at the deepwater wharf of Subsea 7 at Gjøsund. The cause of the fire was investigated by the police.
