The "MSC Katina" berthed at Eurogate in Hamburg on Nov 20, at 11.30 p.m. Here the damaged container from cargo hold 2 and, as a precaution, some more in its surroundings, were unloaded onto the quay. The ship had reached the Elbe in the afternoon, after the Container had been successfully flooded at 3.45 p.m., and was escorted to port by fire fighting forces where 40 firefighters were already in attendance. Fire in container extinguished
The fire in a container with charcoal aboard the "MSC Katrina" could be extinguished on Nov 20 at 3.45 p.m. by fire fighters with rebreathers who opened it. The temperature kept being measured constantly while the crew was preparing the further voyage to Hamburg. Four firefighters and one doctor were remaining on board as a precaution until the ship has reached Hamburg, all other units were released in the evening. The ship was being expected in port late in the evening.
