Russian trawler on fire
The 'Kiev' (IMO: 8859885), suffered a fire in the engine room while it was moored at the port of Murmansk on April 11, 2022. The crew of three was evacuated, and no one was injured. The fire was extinguished by 22 firefighters and their appliances.
Collision in Barents Sea
The 'Kiev', 743 gt (IMO: 8859885), was in collision with the fish factory 'Marta Arendsee' (IMO: 8522250) in the afternoon of Jan 24, 2022, about 222 nautical miles northeast of Murmansk in vicinity 70 31 12 N, 39 31 12 E, in the Barents Sea. The Murmansk Transport Prosecutor's Office has been checking compliance with the legislation on safety of navigation in connection with the incident. The vessels sustained damage without the loss of seaworthiness. There were no casualties, loss of cargo or environmental pollution due to the incident. The transport prosecutor's office will check all the circumstances, call the ship owners and Captains for explanations, evaluate their actions, and, if there are grounds, take measures. The situation was under the control of the North-Western Transport Prosecutor's Office.
